There is a variety of ways to treat Oak trees or Live Oaks.

If a disease falls under one of the three categories, Infectious or Non-infectious then all of these trees may be affected.

  • Infectious – Tree loss due to fungal and bacterial causes
  • Non-Infectious – This is a nutrient deficiency.
  • Pest tree decline – Insect-related beetle borer

A trained eye is the best way to detect tree disease. These tree diseases can cause death in North Richland Hills trees.

  • Bacterial Leaf Scorch
  • Tree Leaf Spot
  • Fire Blight
  • Post Oak Decline

REDOAK: This tree looks similar to Live Oak trees, so it is difficult to identify problems. These are indicators that your tree may be in trouble. They aren’t flowering in spring. They will turn brownish, pale green or wither. Although it is rare for one tree to be affected, the problem can quickly spread to the entire tree. Red Oaks that aren’t producing the expected blooms are a sign of a serious problem. An Arborist should be contacted immediately to diagnose the problem. Within three to four weeks, oak wilt can cause the tree’s demise.

Oak wilt is a condition where oak bark develops fungal spores. Red Oaks can hide fungal spores beneath their bark, so it is important that you inspect them regularly. Fungal spores can be fruity-smelling.

Contamination of Oak Wilt

Oak Wilt is a disease that spreads through the roots and stems of Live Oaks. Oakwood are a group of live oaks that grow together. They often have their root systems intertwined with each other. It is only a matter of time before other trees get infected. It is important to get rid of infected trees as soon as possible. If you don’t take action, the entire plantation may be affected. Trees that appear to be responding incorrectly or browning should be removed immediately.

Oak Wiltred Contamination Oak Tree

These are examples of contamination that can be used to compare Red Oaks and Live Oaks trees.

Red Oaks: A soil contamination could cause transmit oak to wilt. The disease must normally be spread by another tree. The fruity odor of red oak fungal spores can attract many insects. This is the sap-feeding Nitidulid Beetles.

The beetle can infect other trees and spread the infection to them. Pruning trees in winter is a good idea to prevent the beetles from infecting other trees.

Oak Wilt can also be transmitted to the body. You can do this by cutting down the oak wilt and placing it in an area containing other red oak. Before you start cutting wood, ensure it has been thoroughly examined before you move it to its destination.

Root Rot is a Texas Tree Disease

Root trunk tissue is being destroyed by water molds and fungi. This happens when something sticks out of the tree’s core.

Bacterial Leaf Scorch: Another Texas tree disease

The bacteria Xylella quickidiosa (bacterial leaf scorch) is caused by heat stress and summertime. This bacteria is found in the tree’s water xylem. The Xylem is often transmitted by insects that eat it. When the tree becomes stressed, it will cease to function. Sometimes leaf scorch may look similar to Oak Wilt and can be mistaken for yellowy brown.
